Dome-L
is the IPS-sanctioned, but privately-run e-mail based daily information service for the
world's planetarians. It was started by IPS
Fellow Alan Gould. From 1993 until March of 2001, Dome-L
was moderated by IPS Fellow Tom Hocking, through the
courtesy of the Morehead
Planetarium, where he
served for 10 years.
Subscription to Dome-L is free,
and open to anyone with an active interest in the
planetarium profession. As mentioned above, IPS
has sanctioned Dome-L as a worthy service to the
profession, but free and open discussion is
encouraged and essential.
Rovy Branon, the current Dome-L Moderator, reserves
the right to refuse the posting of any article
submitted to the list (but will give suggestions
on how to make it acceptable). The Moderator will
also occasionally declare moratoria on subjects
that qualify in his opinion as masochistic equine
necrophilia (beating a dead horse).
Postings to Dome-L are welcome
by commercial subscribers (vendors), but only as
newsworthy items, and not just ad copy. If you
have any questions about this, or any other issue
pertaining to Dome-L, write to Rovy at rovyb@planetarium.net
.
